It started with a nickname.

Back in 1995, when the internet was still dial-up and social media barely existed, someone gave me the name SurFin. I kept it. Years later it became the only name that felt right for this brand.

During COVID I watched the world change overnight. Like a lot of people, I started thinking harder about what I actually wanted to leave behind. I wanted to create something real — something that could help support my family, give my husband a chance to step back one day, and still feel true to who I am as an artist. I didn’t want to slap someone else’s generic cat drawing on a cheap shirt and call it a brand. I wanted the art to be mine. Original. Drawn by hand (or stylus). With personality. A little attitude. The kind of cat that looks at you like it already owns the place.

That’s how SurFin — Where Cats Rule — was born.

Every design starts as an original piece of art. No stock graphics. No AI fillers. Just me, the drawing, and the cats that seem to run my house (and now the brand). We print everything to order on soft organic cotton using a circular, earth-friendly process. No warehouses full of leftover inventory. No plastic packaging that ends up in the ocean. Just good shirts that feel good to wear and don’t cost the planet more than they should.

The name still means the same thing it did in 1995: ride the wave. Do your own thing. Don’t follow the herd (or the cows). Cats already know this. That’s why they rule.

If you’re here because you like original art, soft organic tees, or just prefer the company of cats who have better taste than most humans… welcome. You’re in the right place.
